Waited about 45 minutes for the worst stack of pancakes I've ever tasted. The coffee was stale. We were the only ones there and our waitress was already flustered.
My husband and I had been wanting to try Penny's for a few months, and we thought we'd get a chance to a few Sundays ago. We showed up at 4pm. The sign on the door, as well as the hours listed for them here, says they close at 8pm on a Sunday. The door was locked, and the people we saw inside completely ignored us standing there looking stumped. I got back in the truck to call the number on the sign, and the lady inside said that they closed at 2pm on Sundays. We figured the whole thing was odd, but knew we'd get another chance to stop by sometime, and we did today. An older woman came to take our order after about 5 minutes, and she seemed friendly at first. We'd all wanted to have the buffet advertised on the window, but she said it was just unlimited liver and onions. I ordered the fried shrimp on a bun with onion rings, my husband ordered a blt club on French, and my stepson got the bacon cheese burger with fries. Just a few minutes after taking our ticket back to the kitchen, before we even got our drinks, the same woman comes back to the table with a receipt and a little over 80 bucks in cash. She says, "Here ya go. Make sure I gave you the right change from that hundred." I told her it wasn't ours, and she looked at me confused, so I just tried to be nice and make a joke about it or something. She took the money back to the kitchen, and I never did see her come back out with it. We got our drinks, and my onion rings came out first as an Appetizer. I had wanted them to come the same time as my sandwich, but they were still sizzling hot so I wasn't mad. I have to say the onion rings were the best thing about the whole visit. They were fresh, and whoever made them is the gold metalist of onion rings. They came with three plates for us to share, and three cups of horseradish dipping sauce. I didn't want either, so I just set them on the empty table next to us. The woman comes over to put the items back on our table, and I had to say no thanks three more times before she took the sauce cups leaving the plates. When our food came, my husband noticed first off that there was only bacon on his club, and we found out later that they charged extra for the cold ham and turkey he had to request after the fact. My stepson's food was fine, but my shrimp was still translucent and raw, so I just sent it back to cancel it from the bill. About this time is when we started hearing the staff, and another man having lunch at the counter, talking about us. The woman brought us our ticket, and went back behind the counter where she got louder and angrier, and the man sitting at the counter turns around to stare my husband down like he wants to fight him or something. When my husband went up there to pay, he had to show the lady named penny how the prices of our items with tax only added up to 30 something bucks when they were charging him over 50 dollars. At this point the older woman is having a fit, throwing things. He asked her to justify the extra charge, and the man says, "Well you know taxes are deep around here" My husband did tell him to mind his business in so many words, but I don't know what other way they thought he would react to that. This was literally the worst experience we've ever had at any restaurant ever.
This place is okay to eat it's kind of old the service there is not all that good the food is okay it's nothing fantastic it's not the worst and it's not the best they have an all-you-can-eat at times other than that you can order from the menu. Certain days have certain foods from there all you can eat Monday is all you can eat beans so if you like beans you like Monday I don't know about the rest of the days I do not go there too often because like I said their service is not really all that good plus their food is okay it's not fantastic where I got to keep going more there. I always say that I'll give things a try because different people like different things and what some don't some might I do find that though they need to have better service I was the only one eating there the day I went in at first and the waitress really didn't come around to ask if I wanted anything to drink I got up. And went to where they were eating and chatting to ask for the drink I could understand if it was really busy but it wasn't that day so like I said it wasn't the best service
